Dear Grape
Next seminar, 7th seminar you have a Defined Assignment song in the SWDA. We have chosen songs for each of you. The main purpose of this task is for you to try to copy the style and sound, to try something different and/or challenging and then finally make music out of it : -). See your define task below. It is your responsibility to find the sheets/Chords for the pianist (if at CVI)/backtrack/karaoke or simply sing together with the version with the singer. If for some reason you find your song too easy, too challenging, you have song it before and are over and done with it, experience problems finding the music at all or something else don’t hesitate to write to me before the 1st of July. We look forward to hearing your songs and we all hope that you will have fun working with them.
We wish you all a great summer
Warm hugs
Christina
ALEXANDRA
‘Not ready to make nice’ (Dixie Chicks): Focus on Highway from Neutral to Edge and Overdrive and the gradually building up from the verse to the chorus.
CHRISTINE
‘Why’ (Plush): Focus on the rock sound, the dynamics between Neutral and metal lower, for middle part and higher focus on Byway metal.
DAWN
‘Heart of Stone’ (From SIX the musical (Feat. Natalie Paris): Focus on Byway from Neutral to metal.
EVENLINE
‘My Funny Valentine’ (Chaka Khan): Focus on Highway transition from Neutral to Edge. You can rephrase the last very high phrasing to lower if needed.
INBAR
‘Aquarius’ (From HAIR): Focus on Highway, mostly in metal. If the highest is easier to go into Byway Edge, then do that or rephrase it.
INGA
‘She used to be mine’ (From the Waitress (Sara Bareilles)): Copy her sound and her path from Highway lower (both Neutral and metal) and Byway higher (both Neutral and metal). First chorus is off course in Neutral and some falsetto.
ISA
’Cold’ (Annie Lennox): Focus on highway, the volume changes and the darker sound colour
ISABELLE CUPPENS
‘Songbird’ (Eva Cassidy): Focus on the Neutral in both fuller density and reduced density, and Falsetto.
JAVERT
‘Safe me’ (Queen): Focus on Highway, louder volume and transitions from Neutral to metal.
MARISSA
‘You can’t stop me’ (Guano Apes): Focus on highway metal and the rock style
MIHO
‘You Oughta know’ (Alanis Morissette): Focus on highway metal for the chorus and the transition between Neutral and metal on highway in the verse.
REVITAL
’Amen’ (Halestorm): Focus on the rock sound, the volume change on highway, and mostly towards fuller Edge for the higher part (even that she uses reduced Edge). Leave out the effects and focus on the fuller metal.
STEFFI
‘And so it went’ (Pretty Reckless) – Focus on fuller metal (mostly Edge) and there is also some N and the rock attitude. You can try the effects, if you want.
ZAURE
’Rise’ (Katy Perry) – Focus on highway, even that she is also reduced in some of the notes in higher part.
