  • Singing: Huge steps in my singing. Many impulses which I will need another couple of years to put into practice properly. Teaching: All the tools which I had been looking for for years! Now I can go blind and it doesn’t matter at all!

  • My outcome is…. GREAT! I have developed so much as a singer. And as a teacher. I learned so much, and I hope I will be able to carry the postive attitude into my daily working environment, which I already do in my singing teaching and which I try also to transport into my choirs and groups. It can be tough in Germany since the tradition in learning here is somehow on the weaknesses rather than strenghts. But I hope it is slowly changing and I would like to contribute to that.   • The fly system is an excellent thing – giving flexibility, keeping the groups dynamic and enabling more people to get to know each other.

  • I could hold a long speach. Afterall, I came to CVI in 2006. It has been a long and winding road, and all the way I have felt the support ad encouragement of everyone at CVI. I am so grateful, I have almost no words. It was a dream to become a singer. I never believed in my talent, but I felt my urge. It was the single one thing in my life that I really WANTED. All the rest has been duty, sensibility, just the way to go – or perhaps ambition of some sort. I have not made any comments on the teachers or staff. In my eyes you are all as perfect as it gets. Which I also perceive as one of the main messages from this school; to make our own judgement, based on our own qualifications and experiences. (“keep what works and leave out the rest”).

  • This is a superb method for learning – both the technical and pedagogical subjects. It’s certainly something other schools should do much more! I will try to use this more in my own teaching; having students teach each other. I teach in groups and ask a lot what they think, and it’s really a good way for the students to become more aware of what they actually know.
  • It’s awesome to teach “real” people when teaching test singers!
  • Some Test singers were not on time. But great experience.

  • The variation and level of the testsingers was big, but that is what we face in reality as a teacher. Some of them appeared not prepared at all – no song or didn’t know what to prepare. But also with this we have to deal. I liked the sessions.
  • I feel that the presentation subject is good for us to get to know the material.
  • The structure in learning these presentration things is brilliant. And also that you’re able to cut the 3 hour presentation down to 1 hour. The structure of the presentation is great! It works in real life!

  • I think it’s great that we get so many opportunities to do workshops. In the first year it was nice to do just little bits in front of each other. The material are excellent (manual and manuscript).

  • The improvisation sessions were very interesting, indeed. I have been taught impro the “JAZZ-WAY” though chords and rote learning and singing the arpeggios etc. – and never liked it, and never really learned it. These sessions supported MY learning much more, and I was thrilled to get all the tools. I tried them out immediatly with my students, and they were SO pleased. Just last week I did it again, and a guy who said he never had or could improvise make a nice impro over a whole song by getting an image of an instrumet to work with. Brilliant 🙂

I see in myself as well as in others, how we are used to being evaluated by numbers – it destroyes learning. Your way of doing it, is in my eyes examplatory (eksemplarisk) and I talk about it a lot at our college as a much better way to both evaluate and ensure learning.
  • Good Written Status, no complaints. Sometimes after we got results it was a bit hard to find out what was missing or little things that were not quite right, but I guess that’s part of the plan.
