Dear everyone,
Here is a description of the preparation for the CVT Rehab seminars. All preparations, readings, and homework is detailed in a handout document called “Readings for CVT Voice Rehabilitation Course for Authorised CVT Teachers”. As you can see the course contains two types of reading: required reading and optional reading.

The required readings are the main texts for the course that you have to read to follow the teaching. These give an overview of the research field and are mainly book chapter sections (meaning a little easier to read and summaries across several studies, typically).

The optional readings are additional readings with more depth, specific research articles around a certain topic, and/or additional information about the topics. You may read the additional readings if you are interested in learning more or want to see the original research articles where the topics are introduced in science. You do not have to read the optional texts.

To help you read the materials for the course, we have included a reading guide. This guide gives an overview over reading strategies for scientific texts. We recommended that you familiarise yourself with the different reading strategies and change between ‘normal’, ‘skimming’, and ‘selective’ reading strategies when you prepare for the seminars. The required readings would be the easiest texts to read with a ’normal’ reading strategy. The optional texts would be easier with a ’skimming’ or ‘selective’ strategy.

Please keep in mind that you are not required to remember every single sentence in all the readings. If you are unfamiliar with certain topics, ideas, or phrasings, please do not be alarmed and focus on the main ideas/main findings and the key take-away points.

We look much forward to starting the rehabilitation journey together!

All the best,
Cathrine & Mathias
